Dear YWI Board and Cooperators:
The digital versions of the Spring and Grizzly Creek
old-growth/landscape characterization maps are complete. Dr.
Reginald Barrett is using this data in his Spring 1999 Wildlife
Management Class. The Spring Creek maps and supporting
documentation were submitted to Dr. Barrett in the first week
of
January. The Grizzly Creek material was submitted Jan 18. Dr.
Barrett was delighted. On Jan. 12, David Lukas, Jennifer Schmitt
(the YWI and SYRCL intern from Bennington College) and I worked
for
1/2 day mapping the Shady Creek Headwaters. I am using this field
work and intelligence to guide office-based interpretation of
mid-1990's satellite imagery for the central and western parts
of
the basin. No aerial photography of any vintage is available for
the unmapped regions that now must be completed. With luck, Shady
Creek will be completed this week.
People interested in reviewing the Spring, Shady or Grizzly
Creek
data before the final maps are made for the EPA should contact
me
within the next 7-10 days.
Regards,
Eric
