Dear YWI Board and Cooperators:
Last week I located several potential control watersheds for
our
benthic macroinvertebrate study. I located the potential controls
using CALWATER planning watersheds, digital elevation models,
and
SNEP/SBI roadless lands. I located westslope Sierra Nevada
watersheds with mean elevations within 2 standard deviations of
the
mean elevation in Spring, Shady and Grizzly Creeks. From these,
I
selected only those that are greater than 65% roadless and less
than 100 km from the 'Inimim forest. Before I narrow the choices
further, I want to present this list to you for review. I am hoping
that you will see on the list a watershed that you know well that
will serve as our control. This would save me several additional
hours of analysis.
Attached is a short list (in Excel format) of most likely candidate
control watersheds and their attributes. See attached BMP image
files for watershed location.
I look forward to your suggestions!
Warm regards,
Eric
