Dear YWI cooperators:

Ann Carlson sent me the following announcement regarding two
stream bioassessment classes Jim Harrington will teach this spring
and summer at Sierra College. This is the same class I took from
Jim last fall at the beginning of our watershed assessment:

California Department of Fish and Game, American Fisheries Society
and the Dry Creek Conservancy are hosting several Bioassement
Classes this year. This is an excellent class, offering
information on using aquatic macroinvertebrates for monitoring.
The class covers both field procedures as well as how to process
and identify the bugs in the lab and basics on bug
statistics/metrics. The class is taught by Jim Harrington
(CDF&G). Currently there are two classes planned to be held at
Sierra College in Rocklin, each class is three days. The cost is
$225 for American Fisheries Society members and $275 for everyone
else. The dates are: March 29-31 and July 7-9. If there are not
enough sign-ups then one of these classes may be cancelled. To
inquire further about the class or make a reservation please call
Kathy Heib, CDF&G/AFS, at 209-423-6078 or Greg Bates, Dry Creek
Conservancy, at 916-771-2013.
