About the award
Three proposals were received. One arrived after the September 14, 2026 deadline and was not considered, as provided in Section III.C of the RFP. Of the two proposals evaluated, one exceeded the funding available for this scope of work under Sierra Nevada Conservancy Grant #1817. Chris Swanson Trucking LLC submitted a responsive proposal within the available budget.
This notice reflects an intent to award and does not constitute contract execution. Once the required documentation is complete, including the insurance certificates and endorsements required by Section 2.18 of the Contract, YWI will finalize the award.
What happens next
The project is a 40-acre timber harvest on private forestland on Merrimas Way, part of the Round Mountain Landscape Resilience Project. The planned implementation window is October 2026 through February 28, 2027, a hard stop for the California spotted owl limited operating period. Mechanical operations will be followed by prescribed fire under a separate contract.
